Project 3 - International Celebrations
Project 3: International Celebrations
Pupils at The Priory have followed the celebrations of a school in Al Barsha, UAE. The children are now more aware of how holidays are celebrated differently across the globe. A video was sent by a teacher in our partner school in Al Barsha discussing life in the UAE, the children in Year 4 were fascinated by the differences between schools in England and schools in Dubai and the Islamic faith. Several pupils in Al Barsha were fasting, which prompted discussions around this in our school. Some had also decided to wear a headscarf during the fasting period, which led to the start of an Eid project in both Year 1 and Year 4. Following conversations with the teacher in Al Barsha, Year 4 discovered a traditional Eid dish, sevia. Pupils then went into the STEM room to cook the traditional dish. The dish was shared across the whole school and we shared feedback with our partner school. This gave our children a real insight to a world outside of their own community.
