Year 5M

Welcome to 5M’s Class Page

In Year Five this year, the team is Miss Millard and Mrs. Nutt. We are looking forward to a fantastic autumn term together. If your child is in Year Five this year, please familiarise yourself with this page as it will let you know what we are doing on a regular basis.

This term, Year 5 will have P.E on a Tuesday afternoon and swimming on a Wednesday afternoon. Please ensure that your children bring their P.E kits and swimming kits on the days specified above!

Things to do at home:

  • Reading books and Reading Records – Children have reading for pleasure books, which they themselves have selected from the wide range of books in our book corner. Please ensure that your child spends 10 – 15 minutes a night reading and filling in their reading record with a comment. Parents are more than welcome to write a comment too!
  • Reading Plus+ – Children have received a Login for ReadingPlus+. They are welcome to use this program to read books and complete vocabulary activities using the internet at home. https://student.readingplus.com/seereader/api/sec/login
  • Times Tables – Children need to have a good recall of both multiplication and division facts. Please practice these at home.

Thank you for reading. We look forward to sharing our year with you all!

Autumn 2

Welcome back to school Year 5. We hope that everyone has had an enjoyable half term!

During our first few weeks back, we have been extremely busy starting with our trip to the National Space Centre. This trip gave us the opportunity to have a tour of the midnight sky in their Planetarium and to find out lots of information about space in the centre’s rocket tower!

Within school, we have started a new range of units in all our different subjects. We are looking at ‘Europe’ in Humanities, ‘Forces’ in Science, ‘2Email’ in Computing, ‘Money’ in PSHE and ‘Pencil Drawing’ in Art. Alongside this, we are exploring our new text ‘The Firebird’ in English and completing a unit on ‘Statistics’ in Power Maths.
