Day 1
Arriving at Laches Wood was exciting, the children were surprised to find that they were expected to cover their duvets and make their own beds.
The day's activities have been amazing. The children all experienced the high ropes. All children managed to climb the tower and most could jump off. We had a few nerves but in all the children had fun.
Later in the evening, after their tea, they went on a scavenger hunt looking for a range of items.
All in all, it has been a good day, the evening has been interesting, a few tears but the children were able to get to sleep.
Tomorrow we will be on the canals learning. how to paddle in a canoe! See you tomorrow.
Day 2
The children have been up since 5:00, they have been sorting out beds and getting changed for today's activities. They are all looking forward to today's lovely breakfast.
This morning it was our turn to have a go at canoeing on the local waterways. It has been brilliant! The children had to team up in groups of four, some children were reluctant at the start but by the end, they had overcome their fears and were happy to be in the boats. We learned how to paddle in a straight line, turn in a full circle and paddle backwards. Our final mission was to stand up in the boats and step into another boat, which was very scary. Unfortunately, some of the children fell into the water, they were all safe as they found that the water was only up to their waste deep.
Later in the afternoon, we ventured out on BMX bikes learning how to control them as well as going down steps, over a wooden straight course and finally onto the BMX course which had twists and turns. There were a few children who could not ride bikes, by the end of the session most of these children had attempted the full BMX course riding their bikes.
Next, we went on to caving, this was a scary experience. We had to go through a series of caves, managing our way around the twists and bends. There were a few small drops and an area where we had to go through a ball pit. This was a scary one-time experience.
Tomorrow, we are looking forward to axe throwing, and archery and the second group turn to go biking and caving. See you tomorrow.
