Special Educational Needs

At the Priory Primary School, we pride ourselves on our ability to include all individuals, whatever their needs. Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities are provided with the same opportunities to access the curriculum as their peers and are provided with differentiated support to meet their needs.

The Priory Primary School works in partnership and is supported by a list of professionals below:

 

 

CAMHS: - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) provide help and treatment for children, and their families, who are experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties, including mental health problems or disorder.

 

Complex Communication and Autism (CCAT) Team: - A highly experienced team of specialist practitioners who can help schools meet the needs of children with complex communication disorders and autism.

 

Inclusion Support Early Years (ISEY): - Supports children 0-5 years who are not yet at school in their early years and who have individual or special educational needs (SEN) / disabilities. The service works in collaboration with other agencies to provide appropriate support packages and early intervention. The team works with children in their own homes, at the Coneygre Early Years and Child Development Centre and in a range of early years’ settings.

 

Educational Psychologist: - Concerned with helping children who are experiencing problems within an educational setting with the aim of enhancing their learning.

 

Exclusion Team: - The exclusion team supports pupils who are at risk of being permanently excluded and support managed moves.

 

Hearing Impaired (HI) and Visually Impaired (VI) Team: - Qualified Teachers of the Deaf, trained in specialist teaching and providing support to deaf pupils and children with hearing loss. Qualified Teachers of Children and Young People with a Vision Impairment, trained in specialist teaching and providing support to pupils with vision impairment.

Learning Team: - A highly experienced team of specialist practitioners who can help schools meet the needs of children with learning difficulties.

 

Occupational Therapist: - Occupational therapists help people with mental, physical or social disabilities to independently carry out everyday tasks or occupations.

 

Physiotherapist: - A clinical health professional who aims to rehabilitate and improve a person's ability to move and function.

 

Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) Team: - Support schools to bring about positive change in the behaviour of children experiencing difficulties with their behaviour, emotional and social development.

 

Speech & Language Therapist: - Identifies children's developmental language and communication difficulties/disorders.

Sandwell SEND Information, Advice and Support Service (SEND IASS)

The Sandwell SEND Information, Advice and Support Services offers a free, confidential and impartial service for all parents and carers of children with special educational needs in Sandwell to help them navigate a way through the new SEND legislation.
